Using an Online Scheduler in an Interior Design Business
I love making things easier for myself. I also love processes and organization. I love working smarter and not harder.
One way that I do that is by utilizing an online scheduler. It’s simple, but can help you work smarter as well as add a bit of professionalism to your business.
So I wanted to share today how using an online scheduler in an interior design business can also make your life easier. I use Acuity Scheduling (and if you have a Squarespace website this is probably the best choice because of the existing integration) but there are many options to consider (just search “online scheduler”).
Benefits of an Online Scheduler
So why should you utilize an online scheduler in your business? First, as I mentioned, it makes things easier on you. There isn’t the back and forth with people about the best time or when you’re each available. It also allows easy rescheduling or cancellations without you getting involved. It automates most of this for you.
It also creates boundaries around your availability. Clients can see when you’re available and they are less likely to push your boundaries seeing the options on the screen (Can you meet at 8 pm Friday?) Plus it sets up time boundaries - that the meeting is only scheduled for 30 minutes, for example. It can “train” clients to respect your time/availability/business hours.
A scheduler allows people to arrange a time to meet with you (whether in person, on the phone, or online.) And most of them also have the capability to set expectations in some way - meaning that you can create a questionnaire or require pre-work before the meeting, the scheduler could also be set to send an automatic email on how to prepare for the meeting or what will happen at the meeting.
How to Use an Online Scheduler
So what are some concrete ways you can use an online scheduler in an interior design business? If you schedule meetings (whether in-person, phone calls, or online) with others an online scheduler can help.
Schedule recurring project meetings.
Allow prospects to schedule a 20-minute initial call with you.
Vendors can schedule time to show you their latest product.
Create a consulting or simple design package (some schedulers will allow clients to pay through program). In this case, a client could schedule, pay, and fill out all the paperwork without your involvement - you just show up for the appointment.
Appointments with clients, vendors, or contractors.
If someone wants to interview you.
As part of a package with limited number of phone calls/in-person meetings.
Group events or webinars.
The bottom line is using an online scheduler in an interior design business can streamline, simplify, and automate something that is done regularly.
