[BEFORE & AFTER] PARADISE VALLEY BACHELOR PAD PART II
Today I am sharing the bathroom and bedroom of my Paradise Valley, Arizona client. To see Part 1, the living room and kitchen transformation read this post. As I said, this particular client wanted things very cave-like. So we continued the dark, saturated paint throughout, although slightly different colors.
You can see in the image above, more so in the interior shots that the paint colors are different (all paint colors are Benjamin Moore). In the living space, I used Stormy Sky because I didn't want to go too dark, but I could go super dark in the bathroom (Gravel Gray) because there was a lot of white balance with the white quartz.
We used the same vinyl plank flooring on the bathroom floor as the rest of the main living spaces because I love continuous flooring since it adds a flow between spaces. I also really like the look of a wood floor in bathrooms, though since this is vinyl water won't hurt it like wood, this bathroom is also rarely used.
I used the light and dark in this bathroom to frame out the materials. To call attention to the pretty italian mosaic tile on the ceiling, the dark pebbles on the floor and also the stark white quartz on the walls.
I had the client stand in the shower to place the showerhead & valves. All too often I see these in terrible positions. Remember, not to high or low and you should be able to easily reach the valves to turn on the shower while standing outside.
Many of the design decisions in here were made for ease of maintenance. The slab quartz on the walls is extremely easy to care for and the lack of grout means it will continue looking good for years to come. Though I would have prefered clear shower doors to display the pretty black plumbing, they also show every single drop of water. The vanity cabinet is raised 6" off the ground so it is easy to clean under (it also has cool LED lighting underneath that can act as a nightlight or just guide guests to the right spot)
I wanted a brighter, happier blue for the Guest Bedroom and choose Philipsburg Blue. Benjamin Moore has a collection of paints colors that they call their Historical Colors (HC) and I by choosing one of these select colors you can't go wrong. As you can see from the "before" image below this room was a blank slate.
New berber carpet, warm wood furniture, a chair (not pictured), and art make this room a welcoming spot for any houseguests.
